SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Western Nebraska Community College Applied Technical Trades programs are inviting the community to join the faculty and students for the inaugural Applied Technical Trades Block Party on April 4 from 5-8 p.m. at the Applied Trades Building on the WNCC campus in Scottsbluff. A cookout dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. for $1 per meal.

The WNCC “ATT” Block Party will provide an opportunity for prospective students and their families to meet with WNCC’s Applied Technical Trades faculty and learn more about WNCC’s trade programs. Faculty and students from all of our applied technical trades programs, including Applied Agriculture Technology, Auto Body Technology, Automotive Technology, Aviation Maintenance, Powerline Construction & Maintenance, and Welding Technology. All will be on-hand during the event to provide information and answer questions.

WNCC students and faculty are eager to present some of their long-term projects, including a 1965 Shelby Cobra replica kit car. Those in attendance will be able to try out the simulators WNCC students use for training, including an automotive paint simulator and heavy machinery simulators. In addition, the Powerline program will have several poles set up so attendees can try their hand at climbing a power pole.

Each program will have demonstrations and items on display - like Automotive Technology’s Chevrolet .396 demo engine and Aviation Maintenance’s Allison 250 Turbo jet engine demo.

Prospective students will also have a chance to meet with WNCC Admissions Counselors and apply for admission.

All prospective students in attendance will be entered into a free drawing to win custom metal art signs, t-shirts and other items. The drawing will be held at 7:30 p.m.
