LINCOLN, Neb. – In the northern Panhandle, rain delayed harvest progress for the third week in a row. Heavy rains have kept harvest at a stand-still since Thursday and caused additional lodging, particularly in fields affected by stem sawfly. Test weights have dropped into the high 50’s with the continued precipitation, but proteins continue to range from 10 to 13.5. Producers said they hope to start harvesting again by this Thursday.
In the southern Panhandle, the eastern portion of the region has completed harvest, while the western region has an additional 10 to 15 percent of harvest remaining. Producers said they hope to have harvest complete in the region by the end of this weekend. Yields remained average, except in areas where hail had damaged fields. Test weights ranged from 58 to 61. Proteins ranged from 8 to 13.
Harvest is complete in southwestern Nebraska. Yields averaged in the mid 40’s, test weights averaged 61 pounds and protein averaged in the 10 to 12 range.
Harvest in south central Nebraska is complete. Yields ranged from 40 to 70 bushels per acre. Test weights averaged 61 pounds. Proteins predominantly ranged from 10 to 12.
Southeastern Nebraska wheat harvest is complete. The region averaged yields in the mid 30’s, protein in the 11’s and 12’s, and test weights of 60 pounds.
The Eastern Central portion of Nebraska reported harvest was complete. Average yields were in the 50’s. Test weights for the region ranged from 56 to 62 pounds. Protein ranged from 12 to 14.
