SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY – An unspecified issue with the service provider may cause problems communicating with the 911 dispatch center in Gering and around the region.
According to a release from Ray Richards, director of communications for Scotts Bluff County 911, the county communications center was notified Thursday of the potential problems stemming from an issue at Verizon Wireless. The issues could impact audio and voice communications with the 911 call center, meaning dispatchers could hear individuals calling in, but the individuals wouldn’t hear the dispatcher replying.
Emergency call centers in neighboring Morrill, Dawes, Cheyenne, Kimball and Box Butte counties are also affected, the release said.
No timeline for resolving the communication issues was provided by Verizon, according to the release.
