Nebraska dry bean day set for February

GERING – The Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association’s annual meeting will be held on February 13 during the 2024 Nebraska Dry Bean Day. 

The Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association is a nonprofit organization which helps all dry been producers in Nebraska. The association was founded in 1982 by bean growers in cooperation with processors and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Panhandle Extension staff. 

During their annual meeting, held during Bean Day, speakers, vendors and research specialists share the newest tends in the dry bean industry. 

The half-day event begins at the Gering Civic Center with a quick registration before the vendor booth visits. 

Dan Hinnman, from the Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association and Courtney Schuler of the Nebraska Dry Bean Commission will present to the public at 1: 00 p.m. and the annual meeting will begin thereafter. 

Hilary Maricle, Deputy Director of Nebraska Department of Agriculture will also be at the meeting, along with Chelsea Didnger, PhD and author of the newsletter, A legume a day.

There will be raffles, Hor’Doerves, a cash bar, vendor visits and a social hour before the evening wraps up.
