YODER – The Southeast FFA chapter recently sent four students to Logan, Utah, for a National Range Judging contest. The best five teams from six states are invited to this contest. Students are asked to evaluate pastures for proper stocking rates, analyze for wildlife conditions, and determine the types of plants available.
This contest is a rigorous contest that replicates the career of a Range Consultant.
Southeast placed second as a team at this regional event. Anthony Ramirez placed fifth overall and Layne Johnson placing sixth overall. Jared Clapper and Brady Tosh were tied for highest plant identification score and Anthony Ramirez and Brady Tosh tied for highest range assessment score.
Special thanks to Cheryl Alps for traveling with our students.
