Private applicator licensing course offered

Posted

TORRINGTON – The University of Wyoming Extension Service will offer two classes in January for individuals needing to renew private pesticide applicator licensing or seeking to obtain a license for the first time.
The classes will be available in Goshen County from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8 and 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Jan. 9. Both classes will convene in the community room at the Platte Valley Bank branch in Torrington.

The course will focus on integrated pest management, ability to properly read and understand the label, types and use of personal protective equipment, and federal reporting requirements. Important changes to the Worker Protection Standard will also be covered. These changes will take full effect as of Jan. 2, so this is a good time to learn the potential impact of the new standards.
Upon completion of the course, attendee applications will be submitted to the Wyoming Department of Ag for approval and the issuance of licenses.  Obtaining a private pesticide applicators license will allow purchase and application of restricted-use pesticides for private use. Four hours of continuing education credits (CEU’s) will also be available to any commercial pesticide applicator license holders that attend the training.
The course is offered free of charge. Goshen County Extension officials do request advance notice of intention to attend for planning purposes.
Call the Goshen County Extension office at (307) 532-2436 to register or with questions concerning the course.
