SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – Calling all young artists. The North Platte Natural Resources District is again seeking entries for its annual Conservation Poster Contest.

The theme of the contest for 2017 is “Healthy Soils Are Full of Life.” Entry deadline to the NRD office, located at 100547 Airport Rd. in Scottsbluff, is close of business on Monday, Nov. 13.

“Soil health has been a very hot topic the past couple of years, and it is amazing how much life is just in the top four inches of our soils.” contest coordinator David Wolf said. “We have had some amazing poster designs in the past, and I am very excited to see what creative designs the kids come up with this year.”

The contest is open to all K-12 students in Banner, Garden, Morrill, Scotts Bluff and southern Sioux counties in the Nebraska Panhandle. First, second and third place winners in each of the four age divisions (Grades K-1; 2-3; 4-6, 7-8 and 9-12) will receive a cash prize, media recognition and be featured on the NPNRD’s website.

Wolf is hoping for at least 200 entries this year. Young people from area schools, home schoolers, daycares, church groups and other youth organizations are welcome to encourage kids to enter the poster contest. Wolf is available to present to classes or groups.

Poster size must be no smaller than 8.5” by 11” or no larger than 22” by 28” and originally designed and completed by the entrant. All submitted posters must include the entrant’s full name, age, grade and school, address and phone number on the back.

Poster entries can be mailed to: North Platte NRD Poster Contest, P.O. Box 280, Scottsbluff, NE 69363-0280 or dropped off at the NPNRD office, 100547 Airport Road, Scottsbluff. For complete rules, and more information, visit the NPNRD website at http://www.npnrd.org/poster-contest/ or contact Wolf at (308) 632-2749.
