BAYARD, Neb. – Chimney Rock Public Power in conjunction with Basin Electric and Tri-State Generation and Transmission are pleased to announce the 2018 winners of the scholarships.
Sarah Kesterson was selected as the winner of the Basin Electric $1000 scholarship. Sarah is the daughter of Phillip and Kristen Kesterson of Bridgeport, Neb. Sarah plans to attend University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyo.
Brittney Newkirk and Kaitlyn Nein are the winners of the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Scholarship of $500 each. Brittney is the daughter of Bill and Jill Newkirk of Bridgeport. Brittney plans to attend University of Nebraska-Kearney. Kaitlyn is the daughter of James and Julie Nein of Bridgeport. Kaitlyn plans to attend University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb.
Scholarship recipients were chosen on a combination of SAT/ACT scores and overall grade-point average, work experience, participation in school and community activities, an essay question, and an appraisal done by a third party.
