GERING – The Legacy of the Plains Museum will host the 25th Annual Harvest Festival Sept. 18-19 in Gering. The events begin Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. and admission is $5 per person.
The Harvest Festival is always held on the third weekend of September every year. It features the chance for visitors to see antique farm machinery in action and hands-on participation.
In addition to a pick-your-own-potato patch, there will be demonstrations of antique equipment featuring dry edible beans. daily parades of horse-drawn equipment and tractors, food vendors, blacksmithing demonstrations, bean sorting, a hay bale fort, a pedal tractor course, a barrel train ride and other games.
Visitors will also be also to see various livestock including chicken, oxen, goats and even the museum’s herd of longhorns. Live music, a bake sale, and the exhibit hall are among the indoor activities.
